Even if a separate Safety Committee has been established in the Department, it is still appropriate to make safety a standing agenda item (even just for brief discussions) at the senior management meetings to ensure that safety is receiving proper attention of the senior staff members. Detailed discussions of safety issues can be left to the Safety Committee.
