Depending on the risk involved in the activities of the Department and the locations of areas to be covered, appropriate number of deputy DSOs and assistants should be appointed to assist.

As a minimum, a Deputy DSO should be appointed to cover the duties of the DSO when s/he is not available such as when s/he is on leave etc. 

If the Department has many laboratories that are of high risk potential, or there are workplaces remotely located, additional members may need to be appointed to take care of those areas.
